Sofitel Le Scribe Paris Opéra - Luxury hotel - History of the hotel

History of the hotel

Each Sofitel draws its inspiration from the local culture and traditions and celebrates innovation and the art of French living to offer a luxurious hotel experience as unique. Since its construction in 1861, the Scribe has been one of those essential players in Parisian life who vibrate to the rhythm of major cultural and historical events.

Former headquarters of the prestigious Jockey Club, the building located close to the Opera has notably hosted the world premiere screening of films of the Lumière brothers.

With this heritage, the Scribe opened in the fall of 2019 a new chapter in its history with the complete renovation of the property. Conducted by Wilson Associates – Workshop Tristan Auer, new rooms and suites you plunge into the atmosphere of a typical Haussmann residence. By mixing the Men’s Club spirit of the hotel’s origins with the sparkling world of the Parisian woman, the famous designer has found the perfect balance to give back to its nobility this institution in the capital.
